Giant Rock Formation Becomes the Cause of Water Shortage at Ar Rasyid Nambo Islamic Boarding School

ASARNews, Bogor - Water scarcity has been a longstanding issue for dozens of underprivileged students at Ar-Rasyid Islamic Boarding School, located in Nambo Village, Klapanunggal District, Bogor Regency. The students are forced to repeatedly fetch water from a nearby river, even during the rainy season.

The water problem at Ar-Rasyid Boarding School has existed since its establishment in 2017, confirmed by Anwar, the teacher and head of the boarding school. "Since the beginning of the boarding school, the only unresolved issue has been water," he said when met at the school, which is located in Lengkong Village.

Anwar continued that the school had attempted dozens of times to drill wells in the surrounding area to meet its clean water needs, but with no success. "We’ve tried drilling at several well sites, about 7-8 times around the boarding school, but the water only flows for a while and then dries up," he explained.

One of the reasons for the difficulty in accessing well water in Nambo is the presence of a giant rock formation beneath the land around the boarding school. This rock formation had been investigated by relevant authorities. "There was a researcher who came to this area to study the land conditions, and it turned out there is a large rock formation stretching across this area, which is part of Mount Putri," Anwar told the ASAR Humanity team.

In response to this situation, Ar-Rasyid Boarding School plans to find a well further away from the school, outside the residential area. The water from the well will be piped to the school. However, the school is unable to confirm when this plan will be implemented as it lacks the necessary funds, and they are still relying on donations for food.
