Conditions on the First Day of the Ceasefire Between Israel and Islamic Forces in Gaza

AsarNews, Palestine - Israel and the Hamas militia have officially entered a four-day ceasefire phase in the Gaza Strip starting Friday (24/11) at 07.00 am local time or 12.00 WIB.

Humanitarian aid trucks coming from various countries have begun to enter Gaza. However, the Israeli army was reportedly still attacking Gaza and the West Bank on the first day of the ceasefire.

The following is a summary of the current conditions of the first day of the ceasefire between Israel and the Hamas militia in the Gaza Strip.

1. Hamas Releases 13 Israeli Hostages
Hamas released 13 Israeli hostages on the first day of the ceasefire. As reported by AFP, of the 13 free Israeli citizens, there were 4 children and 6 elderly women.

The freed hostage was confirmed to have entered Israeli territory accompanied by Israeli Security Agency officers.

In an initial report, the International Red Cross said the 13 Israeli citizens were among a total of 24 hostages released by Hamas. The other hostages released were 10 Thai citizens and 1 Filipino.

2. Hamas Releases 12 Thai Citizen Hostages
Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin gave the latest news that there are now 12 Thai citizens released by Hamas. According to Middle East Eye, this number was unexpected because the release of the 12 Thai citizens was not part of the agreement between Hamas and Israel.

"The Department of Security and Ministry of Foreign Affairs have confirmed that there are 12 Thai hostages who have been released. Embassy officials are on their way to pick them up in an hour. They need to know their names and details," Thavisin said in a tweet on X/Twitter.

3. Israel Releases 39 Palestinian Prisoners
Israel has also released 39 Palestinian prisoners. This was confirmed by the Qatari Government as the party conducting the mediation.

CNN reported that the prisoners were released from three prisons, namely Damon, Megiddo and Ofer. The prisoners were then taken to the West Bank and the Palestinians were eagerly awaiting their arrival.

4. Gaza Residents Return Home
Residents of northern Gaza were seen returning home in large numbers on the first day of the ceasefire. In the video uploaded by Al Jazeera, a number of people of various ages are seen crowding the streets.
Most of the residents who returned home wore thick jackets and brought other equipment such as mattresses and bags.

5. Israel is still shooting at Gaza residents
However, Israeli soldiers were observed still attacking Gaza residents when they were returning home. One witness saw Israeli troops launch fire at Palestinians.

Middle East Eye journalist Maha Hussaini revealed that the incident occurred about two hours after the ceasefire was implemented. According to the Haaretz report, 15 Palestinians who tried to return home were injured as a result of being attacked by Israel.

6. Israeli Army Attacks West Bank
Israeli troop attacks are also still being carried out in the West Bank even though the ceasefire has been implemented. Palestinian prisoners say a 22-year-old resident was killed in a raid in Jericho.

Another Palestinian, who was injured in the attack in Tulkarem, also died of his injuries. Israeli soldiers also arrested several people in the town of Tarqumiyah, west of Hebron.

7. 137 Aid Trucks Enter Gaza
The UN stated that 137 trucks carrying humanitarian aid had entered Gaza, Palestine. The aid distributed consists of various types of goods, such as food, water and medicine.

129 thousand liters of fuel and four trucks carrying gas have also begun to be distributed to the Gaza area. This assistance will be provided directly to hundreds of thousands of Gaza residents who are needed.
